Following Davidson’s Chopper tank through the process of getting flamed.

Begin by repairing any dents or dings that sheetmetal may have. In this case, the triple trees have damaged the tank.

The bodywork is done, time for primer and wet-sanding, ready for paint.

Everything now based in House of Kolor Orion Silver and heavy on the silver mini-flake, it’s all ready for the taping of the under-set of flames.

These flames are based in Galaxy Grey, heavy with Apricot mini-flakes; ready for the Kandy Tangerine.

The first flames are all basework under the primary color, Kandy Tangerine. At this point it all gets a clear coat so it can be wet-sanded and the next set of flames can be applied.

This set of flames will be the focal point of the paintjob and will lay over top of the first set of flames.

These flames will have a pinstripe to really break the colors up. This required the primary flames to be shot in the pinstripe color, House of Kolor Limetime Green Pearl, heavy on the Emerald mini-flake. This is also the base color for the flame. The flame is edged with 1/8” tape and ready for the Kandy Magenta.

Remove the tape after the Magenta is sprayed and flash time has occurred. Prepare for clear.

Cleared and wet-sanded 2-3 times will finally eliminate the heavy layered edges from all the different colors.
